ok, wtf, Ibanez tuning problems AGAIN
Ok so I bought a used USA Custom RG. I replaced the Edge Trem with a different one in much better condition and new locking trem post.
*The
locking nut
is screwed in tight
*The trem is lubricated
*I've been stretching the strings since this morning
*The tuners are screwed in tight
*The tremolo knife edges look fine
*Locking trem posts are locked
*The
tremolo angle
is perfect
But still this effing guitar will not hold its tuning. I had the same problem with my last RG and that's why I sold it. I didn't think this could happen to me again twice in a row.
what the hell am I doing wrong?
The only tremolo I've ever used that's actually never given me trouble is the Original Floyd Rose but the Edge trem is surposed to be just as good, so some one please help me sort this out or I'm selling this off and never bothering with trem guitars again.

hmm... try changing springs; not necessarily a new one but at least somewhat "broken-in"

Amen, I had the same prob on my RGT220A. I put a diff spring in and once strings are streched it will NOT go outta tune.

Re: ok, wtf, Ibanez tuning problems AGAIN
Make sure you STRETCH! Stretch all of the strings until you can stretch them twice without any drop in pitch. Also, when you lock the nuts for the first time, abuse the trem so that the new springs will be broken in, then go back and re-tune/stretch.
Hope you can get it to stay in tune. I use to have this problem a lot but setup after setup I got much better at it, now I could drop it from a building and it'll stay in tune (the guitar would break but the tuning would be fine!).

Re: ok, wtf, Ibanez tuning problems AGAIN
Well after putting in the old springs, I stretched them again. But I ended up breaking the High E.
Got so pissed off I put on a set of 10 - 46 and stretched them like mad and now it seems to be staying in tune. Possibility the strings were in some way faulty.
Glad this has been sorted at the moment, Just going to see how it goes over the next few days of playing it.
cheers for the suggestions
