Old stye Ibanez neck joint...

Is it compatible with a Fender neck pocket? That is, if I were to build an eee-Bay guitar and I bought like an el cheapo body and stuck a Wizard with a locking nut on there would it fit if it used the old style Ibanez neck joint? It has the fretboard overhang so common sense tells me the heel is the same length and such so it would intonate, but I thought I'd verify for sure with somebody on these forums .

I've been wondering the same thing. I kind of want to take my 90s RG570 and turn it into an experiment guitar. Warmoth has some sweet fender style necks with the right scale and 24 frets. The only thing holding me back is that I can't find out if the neck pocket and the screw holes would work out.

Yeah, I've been wanting to stick a Warmoth neck on one of my RG's.

Re: Old stye Ibanez neck joint...

I'm not positive on the screw hole alignment - probably is the same - but I'm positive the pockets themselves are the same. The old IBZ heel is based on the Fender. Of course with the over hang on a Strat body you will have to move the neck pickup or cut two frets off the neck.

The thing that puts me off Warmoth is to get Wizard profile, 24 frets, straight 16" radius, locking nut cut, and angled headstock to replicate an Ibanez neck it's almost $300, and I've picked up complete old RG's for less than that. So I usually take my chances on ëßãÿ for the real thing, because it will be less.

Yes the dimensions are the same. I built this body for an old style RG neck so during the process I found out the answer to your question.
