Open string buzzing

I have an RG470 with a LoTRS Trem. I've been having some problem with my open lower E string.

When its played open, I get some kind of vibrating sound, like a wire vibrating and knocking against some metal. However, fretting the string any where would eliminate the sound.

I tried listening really carefully and somehow think that it is coming from the trem cavity maybe somehwere below hte string saddles.

This vibrating sound can sometimes be heard on the amp as well; thats why I'm trying to eliminate it.

Other strings are fine and do not have this problem.

Anybody has any ideas? Else I would just have the technician look at it when I get my strings changed the next time.

Sounds like the open string (wire) hitting the first fret (metal). This would be stopped by fretting because it's pressed against this fret, or one beyond it anyways.

Well.. this buzz sounds totally different from a normal fret buzz because I have do have some slight buzz on the lower E and the sound I'm describing is actually more metallic.

Hmm....loose part? Maybe one of the tuners? (try wiggling them, parts of the bridge, nut, anything that could possibly become loose)

Check for loose screws, especially strap button, and the base of the tremolo block screws.Check all of them.If its not that loosen the truss rod a 1/4 turn.Check the setup pages here on jemsite.

Check and see if it's a spring ocsillation causing the noise, mute them with something, hand, pillow, etc.

And once you've figured out how to play guitar AND hold the springs at the same time (assuming you're using your third arm) you can tackle this.

Ok, so when you can figure out how to move your left hand to the back of your guitar before picking that open string, then back to the neck again fast enough...

It's just to check, if that's the problem the fix doesn't require your other hand

I unlocked the locking pad for the low E and A and the sounds went away and they came back when I locked them in again. Funny, this sound occurs for the low E string only.

Advice anyone?

Yeah
Its definitely at the headstock. Maybe your string retainer isnt down far enough? Might be rattling around back there when the headstock is going crazy, could also, be a nut shim, or do you might have your locking nut pads turned around the wrong way, ie, they shouldnt be in a straight line
