Original Edge, how to tighten the tremolo arm so it stays?

Hi,

I am new to the original edge tremolo. Could someone please tell me how i can give the tremolo arm more torque so it can stick in the position i put it... rather than swing loose...

Thanks.

First, make sure there are two bushings on the arm. Obviously if one (or both) are missing, it will be loose. If both are there, then they are worn out and need to be replaced. I'm actually on the other side of the fence with this. I prefer a looser arm and am going to remove one of the bushings to see how I like it.

If the arm holder is not loose you can tear off some plastic grocery bag material & wrap it around the end of the arm then shove it in the holder. a temp. fix.

also make sure that the arm does not need tightening at the rear, you need a 10mm deep reach socket to tighten, I also use a little threadlocker on that thread becausseit comes loose easily.

Re: Original Edge, how to tighten the tremolo arm so it stays?

umm ok i just got this guitar like a week ago... rg550 20th... and yeah ive already replaced the bushings and within like 3 days it has become loose again... does not hold position.

One thing to note though, it seems to be inconsistent... like sometimes its stable.. sometimes not.. if i turn the trem bar in circles, it starts to grip sometimes and then it will go loose again... as if its moving the little bushings around... or something?

Surely it cant be the bushings? this is the second set within a week... and now it barely holds... unless i start turning it in circles until it grips again...

Or replace the arm with a floyd rose one. I recommend it over changing your bushings (or grocery bag, as i found more realistic) every 2 weeks.

there's a thread here:
