Ouch! My neck!

hello,
I bought a Squier strat about 6 months ago so I could turn it into cheapo EVH b/w striped job and play some VH covers at home... It played fine when I got it but it sat in the corner for a few months while I played my other guitars. Recently I picked it up and the neck has these burrs all down both edges of the neck on each fret wire. Wha' Happened?

Can you guys recommend a good method to get rid of these, or maybe a type of file to knock'em down. Or is it going to need a new fret job?

Do you guys know if frets settle? or did the neck bow? it doesn't seem like it did, but hard to tell after playing mostly wizard necks if something went wrong with the truss or something to cause the burrs...

any info is appreciated
thanks guys!
Gee

Re: Ouch! My neck!

Lack of humidity made the wood contract while the frets stayed the same length. Any decent tech can take care of that easily.

Re: Ouch! My neck!

if its a cheapie i like to do all my work like when i worked in a body shop when when i was a kid....take sand paper any grit first off, and roll it up into a tube, and use it to sand...treat ur guitar like a autobody when sanding use the same tequnique as for bondo, cuz it sux if u take too much off....i suggest if its a cheapie just sand it down, buff it, re finish the neck if needed, and do the project guitar scallop on it

lol evh it all the way

while ur at it, give it a monkey grip

jk

but what are u going to do with the trem or bridge lkep the origionla crappy squire one..?

Ive never really thought about humidity affecting guitars. Ive lived in new orleans, phoenix and st louis and never had trouble, although Ive always had central air so....

Generally in the winter months you will have your heat on and that will dry out the necks pretty quick if you dont run a humidifier. I used to have one in my guitar room then I installed a whole house one. My first year in this house I didnt even think about it because my last house had a whole house unit and I went onto the guitar room one day and all my necks were warped and had the fret ends popping out. It sucked.

hmmm convenient excuse

so the fac that i have hospital trips late night sometimes, the fac that i take larg quantities of antibiotics that i get migranes, and my nervus system shakes, and that i have to take neural pills to TRY to keep the shaking down and the head pain and pressure

this all seems like convenience

like i said i have som good days, and i have some bad, just sometimes evenings or mornings can kill me, but i assure you nothing is out of convenience, well im off for a while, gotta go paint my gf place...later

So taking pills makes you type like a 12 year old girl?

BOokmark this thread so you can check yourself before you post

Replace "U" with YOU
ur = your, or you're
thier = their (think of it as the word THE with IR at the end)
