Out of tune...

Man, I don't know what it is, but my guitar keeps going out of tune, I didn't notice it this bad before. It's an Ibanez RG prestige, it's not old. Few full bends, and it's out of tune, some trem work, and it's way out of tune, the strings have been on it for 6 days now, well played in. I've never done any major kind of maintenence to the guitar since I have had it though, but I have never noticed it this bad. I don't know whats wrong with it

Did you fully stretch the strings?

Re: Out of tune...

This is a normal problem with new strings, they always go out for a while. I tend to keep my locking nuts off for a day b4 locking up again too, to give the strings a full stretch.

Your lokcing nuts done up tight?

i love when ur strings are a day or 2 old and they stay in tune no matter how much u use the whammy bar its cool, but yea it sounds like a string stretching problem

Re: Out of tune...

I stretched the **** out of them before, but I'll have another go and see how it stays in tune. Could you guys tell me what regular maintenance is really necessary? All I've done in the 1 year I've had this guitar is change strings.

Re: Out of tune...

If the strings are stretched and still go out of tune, the nut is probably loose. Tighten the screws until they're snug, but not tight enough to compress the wood and cause it to crack.

Re: Out of tune...

Yep, stretching strings was always my problem, i hadn't been doing it properly for years until I read http://www.ibanezrules.com/tech/setup/stretch.htm. It's unreal how much better they are after you've stretched them fully.
