Oxidation and my output jack

I recently aquired a guitar that was barely played, but had heavy oxidation everywhere. Well I think it's oxidation because everything that should be silver is a dull gray. After taking steel wool to the frets and strap knobs, I have run into a problem with the output jack. It works and sounds fine, but the inside sleave is so dull with oxidation that it's really hard to push in the patch cord, and even harder to take out. Should I just replace it?

I would, it would be much easier to do that then try and resolve the problem of cleaning it out.
