perhaps a dumb question about drilling trem claw holes

I got a new body that didn't have the holes drilled, and I'm not sure what the best way to drill the holes are.

I took a drill and made the holes, but because the size of the drill I couldn't get the holes parallel enough without damaging the body, so the holes were angled too much, and the screws would stick out beyond the cavity.

So I filled the holes, and now I'm trying to think of a different way to do it.

Please help!

Re: perhaps a dumb question about drilling trem claw holes

I had to do this once way back, and I remember hunting around a few hardware stores to find a long drill bit that was small diameter. I think I ended up getting a 1/8" drill bit that was around 10-12" long. That made a big difference, as I could get the bit closer to parallel.

Where to get them, I don't know, but I know they exist!!!

I've bought the long bits at Sears Hardware.

or if you have a dremel with a flexi connector, stick a drill bit in that & you can get as low as you need

I bought this really tiny powered drill at sears for about 15 bucks specifically for stuff like this. It looks almost like a toy, and it's the size of a small hand gun. It works great for tight spots like that.
