Pickguard Raising
I think this would be the appropriate place....anywho....
I've recently lowered the action on my axe (RG350dx) and in doing so, a piece of the pickguard has raised. It is the little strip that is between the
bridge pup
and the trem itself. I'm not sure what would have caused this nor a solution to it. I haven't noticed it affecting my sound, and it doesn't affect the performance of the instrument. Does anybody have a similar experience with this, or, even better, a solution?
Thanks
-Nickelo

Re: Pickguard Raising
Is the bridge catching on the pickguard or something? Or did you remove the guard and trap a wire under it? It's not a usual problem, sounds like the edge of the trem is catching on it to me.

Re: Pickguard Raising
It didn't happen because you lowered the action, you just noticed it when you lowered the action.

Re: Pickguard Raising
Is it possible that it just looks like the pickguard raised because you lowered the action and now the strings are closer to it?? I have heard of something from BC that makes you Canadians hallucinate haha...

Re: Pickguard Raising
With regard to Dee's response, it isn't catching on anything.
Rich's reponse may be accurate in that I never noticed it until lowering. The thing is that I can stick my index finger between the strings and physically push the guard back down to the body.
Maybe I did just notice it

Re: Pickguard Raising
I don't know what causes it but I've seen plenty of it.

Re: Pickguard Raising
Thanks, Rich. That at least confirms that it has happened somewhere else out there ( All of my other guitars, except an Epiphone LP have no pickguard).

Re: Pickguard Raising
Loosen the
pickguard screws
a bit and see if it settles back down. If not, push it down then retighten and that's the best you're going get it without actually removing it and taking a hair dryer to the high spot.

Re: Pickguard Raising
Phantoms - I have tried what you have suggested before - the tightening and such - but to no avail. The guard doesn't affect my sound, only merely cosmetic, so I can live with it. Thanks though.
