Re: Pickled Mahogany?

I tried it once, but it didn't taste as good as real pickles. It's not worth the time . . .

cabinet makers use a mixture of chemicals including peroxide to lighten wood... you could try that perhaps?

Re: Pickled Mahogany?

i heard somewhere even bleach and alchohol work great u gotta rub it in, and the acholhol does the penetration and the bleach stays put, so when u dye it, its goe a very shime look to it, like almost 3 d, aparently the stains, will sit on the bleached wood but not penetrate....my dad did something like this with amhogany tv center....he wanted it to be red cherry stain, but it didnt take, he loves to pickup junk at estate sales and redo it

personaly i think hes hooked on the chemicals

Re: Pickled Mahogany?

I normally turn red when pickled, then green once thoroughly pickled.

Not sure about the alcohol, but bleaching does work - I actually avoid some Chinese made wooden chopsticks because they bleach them to make them appear more white. As long as you don't plan to eat off your guitar this will work
