pickup height - adjusting

Buddy of mine installed my pickups for my UV..I've got everything nearest the strings as I want except the bridge pickup..I'd like it a bit closer to the strings but when I turn the screw clockwise to raise it like I did everything else it is very tight on both screws as if that's as far as it will go...Should I crank on it or is it at it's stopping point? I just thought it was odd because the other two pickups move as far as I want with no problem. *thanks

These are in a pickguard, right? (never owned a UV myself)

If they are, the spring inbetween the pickup and pickguard probably won't compress any farther.. The way to fix this, is to either replace the spring with a shorter one, or (like me) cut the current spring down a bit.. This should let you raise the pickup up..

Hope this helps...
