pickup in neck with sustainer?

i read on other forums that the fernandes sustainer is not that good as a pickup if its in the off setting so if i put a sustainer (single coil version) in the neck and fill the slot from the middle next to the sustainer with a single coil size humbucker (and fill the middle with a blank). will the pickup effect the sustainer in any way/ would this work?

so basically its a bridge neck configuration cause when the sustainer is on it would be
sustainer with bridge active and
and when the sustainer is off i have the option of bridge pickup, middle (which would be in the neck slot [mini humbucker]) and sustainer as a pickup.

I installed the sustainer (FK 401) I kept my Evolution on the bridge and did not use the Fernandez humbucker, I used the single coil in the neck and moved my Dimarzio Hot rails to the center.
Actually the fernnadez single coil is not that bad, it has high output, it quite bright and twangy sounding.....a little bit muddy but ill give it a 8.5/10.
