pickups nailed to the wood....

Okay, here's the situation.
Long time ago, I asked a dumbasz to replace pickups on one of my RG which has direct mounted pickups.
Yesterday, I tried to adjust the pickup height by loosen the screw, but no matter how hard I turn it loose by a screwdriver, it just won't move at all, it feels like it nailed to the wood.
I don't know how the dumbasz put it on the first time, but now I can't even move or take out the pickup from the slot.

If this situation happen to you, what would you do?

In my situation, I don't really need to change the pickup, I just want to adjust the pickup height just to know how it's different on output.
But knowing that my pickup 'nailed' like that, it's kinda pain in the azz.

Re: pickups nailed to the wood....

yup... not even a single turn..

this situation is not the first time, I once found a Mii RG 370 brand new with stock pickups on it.. wanted to put some dimarzios and make it direct mounted, so the stock pickup ring must be removed too... one of the screw on the pick up ring just 'dead' like that, it won't make a single turn.
so I played it hard.. took a pliers , I took out the screw like a dentist pulling out a teeth.
of course the pickup ring is pretty messed up, can't use it anymore, but who cares?

On this very case, there is no way i would do something like that, it's my precious RG.
I just leave it the way it is for now.

Sounds like the wood could be stripped. That doesnt necessarily mean the guy who replaced the pickups did that. Althought it could. In soft basswood ive often seen this happen. You can drill a slightly larger hole, fill with hardwood dowel, redrill and call it a day.
