Piezo mod?

Hey, Guys

I just recently picked up a cheap rg350 and lately i've been liking the idea of piezos. I've played a few guitars that had them installed and just love the sound of them. I'm not a big fan of acoustics so this would be a great alternative for me.

Now, I'm aware they used to make a Double Edge that was equipped trem but not any more. What are my options here? I don't really want to spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars on this though. I do know that Graphtech does make a drop in floyd rose replacement with piezo but a Floyd Rose doesn't fit into a edge 3 trem without routing right?

Thanks guys.

Re: Piezo mod?

A Floyd should fit in an Edge 3 rout, but has different stud sizes and spacing, so you might need to do some hole filling and re-drilling, but it should work fine.
Also, you should really use a preamp with piezo's or they wont sound as good.

I've talked to a guy on youtube who installed a ofr trem into a Ibanez RG350DX and said there was no routing or re drilling needed. :-) So, I sent an email to Graphtech asking them if I need to route anything to fit the preamp. Which comes with the trem. The cool thing about this is that I have been lusting over a piezo equipped guitar and I can get this just for 50 dollars more than the OFR. So, I think it's what I'm going to go with.
