Polishing a scalloped maple neck

I read Rich's tech section on cleaning a rosewood board with 0000 steel wool. Will maple react kindly to this treatment as well? I don't want my Malmsteen scalloped maple neck to be a test dummy and thats all I have =)

I don't see why it wouldn't work. I use it on the back of my necks all the time ;-)
