Power supplies, preamps and power amps - whats the more idea

When building a rack of stuff, how should you arrange the items? *Power supply further from the preamp or power amp, where does more noise come from?

Maybe post should be moved to GEAR column instead?

Sound wise, it really won't make a difference. *You have to worry about ventilation though. *Usually... the power supply goes on the top, then fx units, preamps, and power amps in the bottom (some people have seperate racks just for power amps.) *It is sometimes recommended that you leave an open space above or below some of the peices that cause lots of heat. *Also consider weight of each unit, heaviest towards the bottom.

Some units aren't more succeptible to noise than others? *I'd be afraid to put an AC unit right next to preamp for fear the preamp would amplify miscellaneous noise from the AC adaptor.
