The project looks great.
Its native to the north eastern coast of Australia, making it more of a rainforest hardwood, like the mahoganies. Not an Acer..., not related at all to maple.

umm i'm still not sure yet acually, metallic red or more like fenders "kandy red" could look preety cool with the pearl pickguards and gold hardware. I'll most probably paint the headstock to match the guitar aswell, depending how it looks.

Open for suggestions!

One thing i did do tonight however is the 18v mod for my EMG S/S/89 in my squier strat. Lots of reviews say that once doing it they'd never go back, and in my opinion i think it does make it sound better, definately more powrfull. The single pickups definately sound alot better with a niice crunchy distortion.

haha had to show the picture. It's just the short-term mounting as i couldn't fit both batterys under the pickgaurd.. so cable ties it was! On monday i think ill take it in to school and give it a quick little route get them under the pickgaurd

Kandy Red would look nice. You're not doing the monkey grip You NEED to! Or its just a TeleRG.

Re: #Project- TeleJem ! *with pics*

heyy guys small update

its been slow waiting on parts, and i've only three 70min lessons a week i can work on it, and the last 3 weeks we've been doing thoery !

But anyway i decided not to bother with the floyde rose, not enough time, to complicated, and most of all, i dont ever use them, soo i bought a nice gold top loading hardtail and put that on instead

Other then that all i've really done is put the strings on, and i noticed that its as if the nut is to low on the guitar? when the strings come off the nut they are touching 1st fret regardless of how high they are at the tremolo. My mate thinks the neck might've bent a little as it has been sitting in the cuboard for a few months without strings on it, is this a normal problem? Would i be better of maybe packing a very small peice of wood under the nut, or should i just adjust the truss rod if thats what i could be?

cheers everyone =]

Re: #Project- TeleJem ! *with pics*

You can check how straight the neck is by holding a string down at the first and last frets and seeing if there's a small gap between the middle of the string and the frets, if not loosen the truss rod.
Sometimes a nut does need a shim beneath it, usually they are thin brass sheet, and you can buy them or you could make your own.
Great work!

Re: #Project- TeleJem ! *with pics*

It sounds like the nut is not tall enough. use a shim for now, if it works get a new taller nut and file it down to size. If the nut seems unusually tall and you still have the problem then the neck angle would be off do to the neck pocket or truss rod adjustment. Are you using a locking nut? That would be weird with no trem. You can buy a non locking replacement for the locking nut. That would look much better on this guitar.
