Question

push pull pot wiring help

Hi, i'm new here and was wondering if i could pick some brains on wiring a couple of push pull pots to my RG1527.

Its all standard so far -HH and 5 way, but i want the volume as a push pull kill switch.

From what i can gather the easiest way is to wire the switch is straight to the output jack to kill the signal totally but which wires go where?

Next up i want the tone pot to do somthing cool but i'm unsure what. maybe a phase switch? how would it sound and how do you do that?

i'm not in to drilling holes in my axe so thats why i want to use the push pulls

Any help would be much appretiated,

Cheers, John

Re: push pull pot wiring help

Using a push/pull for a kill switch would not be as handy as a toggle but the wiring is easy. Run a wire from the hot lug of the volume(or output jack) and a wire from ground(like the back of the volume pot) so when you pull the switch up, those 2 wires get shorted. Instant silence. Instead, I would pull the tone knob out and put a toggle in. If you actually use the tone knob, maybe use a push/pull to add in the cap for a treble rolloff?

thanks for the reply, i'm ok with the kill switch now thats how i would have done it, any ideas how i'd wire the neck pup to a push pull phase switch? it's got 4 wires so this is right for the setup?

Re: push pull pot wiring help

Check DiMarzio.com to see if they post their wiring. I know their pickups all come with a sheet showing all this stuff nice and clear.
