Question about cable lengths

Should you be able to hear a noticeable diffence between a 10 ft and 20 ft instrument cable? Standard mono 1/4". I bought a whirlwind 20 ft last night and as soon as I plugged in I knew something was wrong, it was like the guitar was stuck on volume 6 instead of 10. I go back to a basic 10 ft and it sounds fine. I know there is a measurable rate of diminishing output as it relates to length of cable but I dont think I should hear such a noticeable difference between a 10 and 20 ft cable. Thanks.

I don't think there should be a noticeable difference really. Seems to me there's something wrong with the Whirlwind cable.

Re: Question about cable lengths

It had to be. Whirlwind cables have a lifetime warranty anyway, yes? I had a few back in the 80's, those were great, if I remember correctly.

http://www.billlawrence.com/Pages/Connector_Cable.htm

read that. It's all capacitance. I use a 25' BL Cable and it sounds better than a 6 ft gold plugged cable I bought from MF. That bastard can take alot of abuse too. I beat the **** out of it. lol
