Questions about neck and strings

I just bought a RG 570 EX.
At the shop (which I believe has the most professional guitar tech's in Finland), they set it up for me.
I liked the setup, the action was very nice. I didn't measure it (and I can't do it now either, cause the guitar is at the shop again) though. The problem was that when I played the 7th string and up, there was a lot of fret buzz. Since I liked the action (which wasn't too low) I returned it to the shop and asked if there is anything to do to the buzz. The guy told me that he set the neck straight, no relief, and told me that that is the best way to go with that kind of guitar. He sent my guitar to a guy who adjusts frets (I don't know how to say that cause I'm finnish, I mean he sandpapers them or som, ething like that).

I haven't picked up the guitar yet, just wanted an opinion if that is the way to do it.

Thanks

I think your tech thinks that your frets need to be leveled. And that the fret buzzing is caused by some unleveled frets.

That could be the problem. I think your tech is competent enough to notice if that's the problem.

Keep us informed on how it go's

Cheers,
Joten

* A fret level sounds like what you have to do. It doesnt cost much at all unless you get the news you need a re-fret. And then you'll cringe but only a little and then you'll realize its the best thing you ever did.

*Frets are one of the most important things you need to take care of to keep a guitar sounding its best. Some low-end or just plain beaten guitars are useless and aren't capable of proper fret levels. Probably because their more toys then guitars. But yours is a 570 and should be capable of very nice frets which will result in zero to very little buzz. If you get a fret level and keep raising the bridge action (truss rod wouldnt do much) and still get buzz then I have no idea your neck is probably warped to crap. hehehe good luck!!
