Re-stringing

When you guys put new strings on your guitars do you take all the strings off then put new on or change them one at a time. The reason i ask is that i want to give my fret board a clean the next time i replace my strings and was worrying it might do damage to the neck with all the stings off the guitar with no tension on the neck.

Re: Re-stringing

Just put something under the bridge if you take all the strings off at once to keep it level.

Re: Re-stringing

The neck will be fine. Like elcid said, fold up a wash cloth, dive bomb the trem, stick the cloth under it and let go. This'll help keep the bridge angle correct with all the strings off.

Re: Re-stringing

I always change all the strings at one time. Yes there is no tension on the neck for a short period, but this in no way causes any damage.
