If it's done by someone who knows what they are doing it should work fine. You could also look at the aftermarket necks. You can get a Mighty Might Strat neck with Jumbos that will play as good as anything on the market. Some of the new MM Strat necks are amazing. IMHO

Ya, if you want to go jumbo re-frett then have a pro do it. A total re-fret can be COSTLY, so you might want to just look into an aftermarket neck like Rotti mentioned. An aftermarket neck prol run cheaper. What kind of guitar is it? brand etc....

If you don't know what you're doing, you can do more harm than good....you'll go from a guitar that plays poorly to a guitar you won't be able to play at all. Fret wire isn't that expensive, but what you're paying for in a professional re-fret job is the EXPERIENCE. Leave it to a pro....or as mentioned above, get a replacement neck with the frets installed.

Good point surfdog777. Experience is def' a big part of that Price Tag for a re-fret. Not to mention all those tools you will prol need to get to do the re-fret can be costly. For example, StewMac sells an essential fretting tool kit for $155.52 (U.S.). That kit is a basic one and doesnt include a neck jig, fret bender or fret press that a Pro-shop is most likely going to be using.
