Removing a marker pen signature from a guitar body...

Well there is a lovely JPM2 on evilbay goin super cheap, I think becuase Mr Petrucci signed his name in great big gold marker pen on the body!
It detracts from the look of the guitar so I was wondering would there be a way to remove the marker pen without damaging the finish?
Some alcohol based sollution maybe?

Pittsburgh Paint, not sure if its available in the UK, makes a product call vandel remover. It will remove sharpie or paint pen, w/o damaging the clear coat. Shy away from alcohol solvents as they will heat up the finish and melt it.

Why is it nobody ever pays attention to RESERVES on auctions? [BTW if I had sold it originally then it would have been in a UV1000C]

Sharpie bleeds into clearcoat, and even though you can get it off the surface, you will never get it out of the clear.

Paint pen does not penetrate and will wipe right off.

There is no reserve on this particular one, £600 starting price with no bids or £900 BIN which is still very cheap.
Hmm can't tell if it's sharpie or what, but it's gold at least not black.

One claiming it was bought from yourself, and another with the signature on it.

Well the listing saying it's from yourself is the only jpm2 on evilbay anyway.
And the one with the signature is the only one in evilbay UK.
