Removing Edge Trem Bar

This is an embarrassing question, but I need to ask. I'm new to Ibanez guitars and think they are great. I absolutely love the Edge tremolo systems on my RG550 and JPM. But having spent all my years with either stop-bar tailpieces or Floyd Rose bars, I can't figure out how to get the Edge trem bar out safely without yanking and risking injury to the guitar and my own arm! What's the easiest and most effective way of removing the bar? Please be gentle!

Grab it where it goes in and gently pull up. Welcome to Jemsite. =)

also, press your thumb onto the stud next to the bar, and pull with the other fingers. see below
