Replace Edge Pro on 2005 Jem7vwh

Hey, I have a new 2005 JEM7VWH and want to replace the gold edge pro with a cosmo one..... will the Ibanez part #2EL1J11K work? Whats the difference with the Lo Pro, Edge Pro and II models. Thanks for any input and thoughts.

If they're both Edge Pros, it will require little (if any) to no routing. The difference between the Lo-Pro and the Edge Pro, is well, the Lo Pro came with locking studs (I know squat about technical differences). Both are high quality bridges made by Gotoh and a EP with locking studs are just as stable as a Lo-Pro (according to Rich anyway). As for the Edge Pro II, it's made in Korea using cheaper parts and softer metal. It's not bad actually, and it's miles better than the Lo-TRS's. Just not as good as their Japanese counterparts.

Basically, the Lo Pro was replaced by the Edge Pro. Where the Lo Pro was a low profile redesign of the original Edge, the Edge Pro is pretty much a new design, and the lowest profile of the lot. Some people prefer one, some the other. They are not interchangeable without some degree of modification.

The Edge Pro II is the cheaper version of the Edge Pro, used on MIK guitars. Visually it's very similar, with the exception of the metal inserts used in the Edge Pro at the intonation point.

My apologies for not being familiar with the part number you quote. You'll be wanting an Edge Pro in whatever colour to replace what you have now.

Yes the part #2EL1J11K is the right one, Edge Pro trem in cosmo black. Ask Rich at Ibanez Rules if he has one in stock but looking at the site he doesn't at the moment.

If you can wait a week, I may have a cosmo Edge pro to trade you for the gold. I would want to trade all the hardware to keep the color consistent and I happen to like gold hardware(my hands don't sweat and ruin it like some other folks). Email me if you're into that trade. albee1952@bellsouth.net
