Replacement Necks
Hey guys, just signed up for a forum account, I've been aware of this website and a fan of Ibanez guitars for many years now.
So I've procured a
left handed
, black RG550 body and a left handed, original edge tremolo, which are all the hard bits I need to begin a little project
. Anyway, assuming I can't pick up a lefty
square heel
on any well known auction site, or a righty reverse perhaps (did they make these back in the day? I've seen Paul Gilbert with one...?), who do you guys recommend for having one made? Is there someone out there who's the Jemsite 'neck guy?'.
Thanks,
Liam.

Send Ernie at ET Guitars a message. The banner at the top will link you to his site.
Cheers,
Tim

Re: Replacement Necks
You could also look for an old RG565
neck
--these had reversed headstocks. They are very rare by themselves, and even whole RG565s are pretty scarce. I second the ET guitars suggestion. There are a few other sellers at "that auction site" who crank out some decent Ibanez replacement necks...

Re: Replacement Necks
ET was completely unresponsive to me after the first email. YMMV - Perhaps you'll have better luck, but I can't recommend them.
I'd recommend watching e-bay.

Re: Replacement Necks
I've had no problem communicating with Ernie at ET. My neck should be done in a week or so, so I can't comment on his work just yet, but he's always been quick to reply and friendly to deal with. His actual completion time was a little longer than the estimate, but that's why it's called an estimate, and I did change a spec or two along the way. When the neck gets here I will tell you how it looks and when the rest of the guitar is ready I can comment on the feel.

Re: Replacement Necks
Everyone's experience is going to vary a little. But my experience with them was an initial email from me, then a response from them with a form asking me to detail my specifications which I returned. Then...nothing.
Falls kind of short on the customer service end. Especially for a site sponsor.
I'm glad there are those who've had a good experience with ET. But I personally won't recommend them.

Re: Replacement Necks
email is just like regular mail. Sometimes it doesn't get delivered, and disapears. Prudence would suggest sending it again if you didn't get a reply.

Re: Replacement Necks
I did. Four months ago. I've since given my money to a local luthier. I'd always rather give my business to those who want it.
As I said though, I may be an exception regarding ET. The OP might have an awesome experience with ET, and I hope he does should he choose to get a quote from them.

Re: Replacement Necks
Ernie has always responded to my emails. Neck & body project should be here by the end of the week. I'll start a new thread when everything is done.

Re: Replacement Necks
Hi guys, interesting you guys mention ET, they're a bit local for me, at least country wise (which lets face it, is rare when you live in Australia). I sent ET guitars a while ago about getting a similar guitar made, however now I've procured half the parts myself. I never got a reply to that email (sent about 6 months ago), but I see they were having a back order problems.
PS, any pics of some of their work, and what sorta wait times did you guys experience?

Re: Replacement Necks
So I emailed ET, but they're not replying to any of my emails. Is there a better way to contact them?
edit: I'll ring em.
