Re: Replacement of your trem arm - "tutorial" with pictures

i dont really see what's wrong with the push-in bar? just put 1 more hex nut along with the stock one, a neat tighten and you're set. i've got almost 15 guitars fitted with Edges/LoPros and many friends of mine use these trems/arms, and none of us have ever had any problems.

The push-in bar on my JS1000 is driving me mental. I'm going to try this mod, it sounds like the answer. Can't believe pro players like Vai and Satriani put up with this.

Re: Replacement of your trem arm - "tutorial" with pictures

Funny, I've always vastly preferred the push-in bar to every screw in I've ever played - Sure, every four to six months you need a new set of bushings, but they're cheap. I've considered this one of the advantages of the edge system, and I'm kinda surprised to see that there's a lot of people who don't...

Well.......here in Holland the bushing are not cheap. They are also very rare to find...almost impossible...
And I needed bushings every 2 weeks....because I like a tight arm...

Re: Replacement of your trem arm - "tutorial" with pictures

My new Schaller arm came in the post today. Can't wait to get it fitted.
If this works, this is gonna save my sanity.
Cheers everyone for a great tutorial.
I was gonna have to sell the JS1000 otherwise, and apart from the trem I love it to bits.

Re: Replacement of your trem arm - "tutorial" with pictures

So, by replacing the stick part with the schaller, is it necessary to put a new trem arm in? if so, is it possible to get a chrome one for my ZR because a black one would look damn ugly. thank for the thread, it seems to be the answers to all of my troubles. my s470dxqm seemed the perfect guitar for me untill that wobble started.

Re: Replacement of your trem arm - "tutorial" with pictures

I want to thank everyone that shares such useful information to the rest of us. I've been using push in bars since i got my first ibanez. Either the bar was too hard to get in, or it would swing out of the hole during stage performances. Sometimes it was a mix of the two, where the bar would be tight in the holder, but the holder would move at times... It was very inconsistent and always drove me crazy! Not only that but the bar always was so high off the body, that my divebombs would accidentaly "bottom out" and would come back with no tones. This mod has helped me control my whammy use. I ended up wrecking the stock arm holder using vice grips because i couldnt get it out with a screw driver, but i can tell you i'll never look back! So thanks again!

Re: Replacement of your trem arm - "tutorial" with pictures

Jammy could you please (or anybody else) give me the part number for the Schaller arm holder on the touchstonetonewoods.co.uk site? I'm absolutely sick of my arm holder on my Jem7vw not staying tight, no matter what i do (tried both jemsite and Rich's methods of tightening) the thing just won't tighten up.

Thanks.

Re: Replacement of your trem arm - "tutorial" with pictures

The nylon washer in mine is crushed. Anyone have a line on a suitable replacement washer?

I suppose any nylon that fits will do. I'll check my local HW store.
