Re: Replacement of your trem arm - "tutorial" with pictures

5362-001 arm (chrome) or 002/003 depending on colour you want
5362 071 knurled collar
5362 061 insert
5382 mountin bush

that should give you all the parts that your Stumac link gave you but from UK supplier.

Re: Replacement of your trem arm - "tutorial" with pictures

I tried PTFE tape this last about 1 week more than nail varnish!

So here is the definitive thing to do.

I bought a new floyd rose trem arm and socket from www.axesrus.com

here is the trem showing the flush socket

here are tools you will need 1) 8mm wide flat slot head screw driver
2) philips screw driver 3) fine tipped pliers

firstly undo the springs holder in the trem cavity and removed the springs carefully (protect guitar with towel!!)

there she is

next get the fine pliers and remove the nut holding the Ibanez socket in place or a 10mm socket if you find one where the outer circumference does not catch on the body of the trem

Re: Replacement of your trem arm - "tutorial" with pictures

here it is just after nut removal and next pic is the socket and nut

you will need the 8mm flat screw driver also on the top end in order to undo the nut and then ultimately to unscrew the socket.

Ok next the new trem parts are unscrewed with an allen key and the top part fed through the top of the trem unit and longer supplied screw used to secure the bttom section

ok now carefully put the trem back in and hook up the springs protecting again with a towel (see Ibanez Rules for more detail on removal/replacement of trem)

reattach the spring cover and trem cavity cover to give you this

oh by the way give it a good clean when trem off and here is my baby in all it beauty...an now it flutters like the best.

hope this helps

Re: Replacement of your trem arm - "tutorial" with pictures

Does the new bar physically sit higher then the Ibanez bar?

I have a problem with an RG540 that I have. I put in a dimarzio 5 way switch and the bar hits it all the time. The only way to clear it is to have the tremolo sitting high or not ballanced tilting back. Both ways produce terrible action and tuning problems. If this modification makes the bar higher then I think this may have solve my problem. Apart from ripping the switch out and putting in a new one which I just don't want to do.

Hi Sanchez not quite sure if it work for you with the JS dimensions being different but my Ibanez Universe has the same problem as you. I'll tackle it next and let you know if the mod worked for it. If it does it will likely work for you too.

A note to those with Edge Pros.

I've encountered 2 Edge Pros (of which one was an Edge Pro 7) that had their arm assembly tightened to the point it had to be drilled out.

Just so those who dare should know.

Revisiting this thread. Anybody know the whereabouts of the nylon washer that goes in these bars? I need a new one.

Re: Replacement of your trem arm - "tutorial" with pictures

I've got a question, and please don't flame me for asking....

Isn't the whole beauty of a pop-in/out arm easier than having to screw it in like a TRS or OFR?? Personally I prefer popping the arm in as opposed to screwing the arm in. When I lookked at the pictures of that edge pro, it looked like a trs at first glance., then I thought it was an edge pro II, then I thought it was a speed loader..... I do sympathize with the guys that are having problems using the original bar and having it hit the controls. Personally, I haven't had that issue but, I guess it depends on how you use the bar.

Jimmy

PS. Nice way of modding it though. congrats :-)

I think the main point is that the bushes wear out but as long as you replace them everynow and again, i cant imagine a better system than is allready there.
