You talking about the stock push in bar nylon washers? Ask Rich from Ibanezrules.com

On the topic of this... I find too find the washers wear out too fast... with every washer costing USD1, seems like it's costing me as much as my regular string changes. But then again, i like the push in style. Teflon and cellotape doesn't last... perhaps i should try giving all my old washers a light coat of epoxy... hope it lasts longer than nail polish.

My guitar has the same bushes from when it was made in 99 when i bought it, i ordered some new bushes yesterday so if they wear out as much as you say i might be persuaded to do this mod, but every collar trem bar i have used has given me nothing but grief. is this one different?

lol sorry saying it costs as much as my regular string changes is a exaggeration... but changing a bush once every two weeks is more like it. But thats also because i can put up with a slightly loose bar coz i dont do flutters.

Re: Replacement of your trem arm - "tutorial" with pictures

I gave up on changing washers a long time ago. Not only is it a pain to have to order them, but also to change them (they're so tiny!). I've just been stuffing little bits of plastic bags from the grocery store into the hole every time i put the bar in... It's a good trick, but it's also a pain to get just right, and it also looks kinda ghetto to have plastic bag sticking out of the bar.

I just got an LTD with an original floyd and i have to say that i much, MUCH prefer the screw in bar.

I hope to do this mod to my edge soon.

Yes, The ones from Stewmac include the mount and 2 lengths of allen-headed screws.

Re: Replacement of your trem arm - "tutorial" with pictures

I done the mod on my rg1527

I am delighted about the final result but I had to knock off the nut altogether as it wouldn't budge

But besides that I have less worries about my trem

Thanks for putting the tutorial up

I'll post a pic soon

Re: Replacement of your trem arm - "tutorial" with pictures

oh yeah I bought the arm from stew mac and it had the arm and socket included

and the process of getting the old socket out, get a proper screw driver that will fit into the top of the socket and some sturdy needle nose pliers, I broke the tip to mine

Then patience as I thought it was welded in but it wasnt after I persisted

Highly recommended mod thanks dude

Depending on the size of the nut, a deep socket should be able to remove it.

I tried one but it was too much of a squeeze, the alternative is a 10mm wrench

I highly recommend this mod if you dont like the fuss of a the original losing its feel and changing bushings or putting nail varnish on it

Anyone else test it out on any other Ibanez trems?
