Hi,
I've been a long time lurker in this forum but now I have a problem and hope I can get some help!
I've got a brand new
DiMarzio Evolution bridge pickup to slap into my RG 570 to compliment the arrival of my new amp (Legacy VL100). *I'm replacing the old bridge pickup which is an Ibanez V8. *I've checked the RG570 wiring diagram from Ibanez (
http://www.ibanez.com/wiring/W97019.gif). *This is a 1998 model BTW.
The problem? *The V8 is only a 2 wire pup while the evo is a 4 wire. *On the V8, the red and white wires both go to different connectors on the 5 way switch. *
The Evo has 4 wires (red, green, black and white). *They say to wire the white and black together (for a standard humbucker) and the red to the hot lead while the green goes to the ground. *The rest of the directions for different connections seem to be only for official DiMarzio parts.
I believe after experimenting with tapping an allen wrench on the pole pieces of the RG570 that position 1 of the switch is just the
bridge humbucker, position 2 is one half of the humbucker together with the single coil, and position 3 is just the single coil. *
I'm thinking I should wire the red on the evo to the same place as the red on the V8 (which i'm assuming is the hot lead since it is red). *But what about the rest of the wires? *The green to the ground and the black and white soldered to the same place the white is soldered on the V8? *Or am I completely in left field here?
