Replacing A Lo-Trs II with a Edge Pro

Hi guys, I'm new to this forum and this is my first thread.
I'm sure you can help me.

Short to the point:

I have an Ibanez Jem 555BK, I like it but unfortunately, it's equipped with a Lo- Trs II trem (which I don't like).
My wish is to replace it with a Edge Pro.
I've taken a look at http://www.jemsite.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3229
and found precious comments and opinions. Still I want to know:

- Is it really necessary to modify my guitar's body in order to replace the bridge?
- Do you think there will be any problems in my guitar after the replacement?
- Finally, I would like to know your opinions about this replace. Do you think it's worth?

Thanks in advance for your precious help.
Daniele

P.S. : Sorry if you find some grammatical errors!

Re: Replacing A Lo-Trs II with a Edge Pro

Too much work changing from a LO-TRS II to an Edge Pro, the post spacing is different for starters.

I would be looking at dropping in an Original Edge or Lo-Pro Edge. I replaced a Lo-TRS II equipped RG with an Original Edge and it fit in. To make it a neater fit all I had to do was sand out the sides a little to sit nice and evenly.

Get your self an original Edge and I think you will be a lot more better off.

You will like the lo-pro or original Edge a lot more than the Edge Pro and it fit easier.

i agree 100% with LonePhantom

Sorry, that is not really accurate. I have done 2 of these guitars with the Edge. The first one I re-used the TRS studs and it worked fine. The second one, I opened the holes with an 11mm bit and installed Edge studs and that worked even better. The only actual routing needed is to the surface where the inserts are installed. If you remove the inserts and route that flat part another 2-3mm(deepen the insert holes the same amount) the Edge or LoPro will fit nicely.

You missed what sort of trem the OP wants to install. They want an Edge Pro, not an Edge. I know that you can retro-fit an Edge to a LO-TRS II, I've done it myself.
