Replacing Lo-Pro Edge trems with original Edge?

This will probably get me more flames than informative responses, but yes, why not?

Of all the Jems and Universes that I own (, my favorite player is a beaten-up 1988 DY, which, obviously, has the original Edge trem system. I find that bridge much easier for my playing style (i.e. a lot of palm muting) than the newer guitars. I would love to combine the hotter sound of my Jem7VWH with the more comfortable feel of the Edge trem.

So my first question is, are the Edge and Lo-Pro Edge systems fully interchangeable, could such an operation be done to my guitar(s) with little alteration, or is this completely impossible? If it is feasible, can someone recommend a shop (like EKG or LGM) that could perform this service?

Also, I was wondering about the same sort of conversion to one or more of my UVs. I have a '91 MC, a '92 GR, a '92 PWH and a '96 BK that all have Lo-Pro trems. I'd love to have a 7-string version of the original Edge bridge on one... I checked the Spec Sheet page on Jemsite and it indicated Lo-Pro Edge-7 trems for all models. But when I looked at the Production page, there were evidently some UVs made in 1990, which would seem to imply original Edges. And a look at Rich's web page, under Parts, indicated the existence of an Edge-7 system, though he has none in stock...

Sorry for a dumb question but I appreciate you all reading through, and especially any help. Thanks!

no flames for that at all, many here around like the original Edge the most, including me. even Mr.Vai seems to prefer the Edge over the Lo-Pro. they both work great, but just feel different.

anyway, yes, you can replace a Lo-Pro to an Edge with no works at all, just pull one out and put the other in. period.

it may happen that you won't have room enough for the Edge's saddle block screws in a Lo-Pro cavity if you happen to set the saddles far back, but that's not your case.
