Replacing RB2 Bridge with an original Floyd

I'd like to replace the original Edge bridge on my RB2 with an original Floyd, as I find myself more comfortable with it. Is it a straight replacement? Does it require extra work other than removing/replacing the bridge and locking nuts?
Also is there ANY way to keep the whammy bar from dangling down when not in use on the old Edge bridges? That's my main beef with the Edge bridge, the bar will not stay up and a lot of tricks I like to use (bridge flutters, etc) cannot be done unless the bar stays in the desired position. SO much so that the RB model Reb Beach used to "really" play had an orifinal FO instead of the Ibanez model.
All tips are welcome

There are plenty of home brew fixes to tighten the bar, persoanally I just recomend buying a bag of new teflon bushings.

Thanks! All this reinforces my idea that the original FO design beats Ibanez's. Funny thing Ibanez uses the FO approach to screw the bar on the bridge on the cheaper TRS bridge, and it works a lot better IMHO (you can have you bar to be loose or tight as you please without having to resort to nailpolish or any other type of homemade fix). Wouldn't it make sense to do the same on the higher end bridges? *

IMHO...no way. I think that the non-screw-in-bar is much better, I use the bar pretty much and I use it towards the body and away from the body. The movement on the bar is much (very much) smoother than your average screw-in. And you can spin the Edge bar as much as you like, it ain't going nowhere.
Just see the G3 video...

:rotf: while each of us has our own opinion on the matter, most here would consider the Edge/LoPro a HUGE improvement over the OFR design. You can read more in GUITAR area of jemsite to see improvements, etc. made by ibanez for the Edge... glen

The OFR will fit right into the Edge cavity and onto the posts. Not that I would personally consider doing such a thing... glen

You know, you can put the bar assembly from an OFR onto an Edge bridge.. The mount just needs a bit longer screw, but those aren't hard to get (it's the same exact allen headed screw as used in the lock-nut clamps)..

This, IMHO, works much better than an OFR, as you get the best of both worlds.. The bar even sits slightly closer to the body, thanks to the angle of the Edge's base plate.. No need to bend the bar, for people like me who want the bar in reach at all times..

Just remember, if you do replace the trem, and do a lot of high pull ups, the springs will pop off an OFR.. After playing an Edge for 7 years, then getting a Floyd Pro for a project, this realy threw me for a loop..
