Replacing wizard I with wizard II

the wizard is a little too thin for me and i know someone who's been looking to sell his rg 220 for a while. i'm going to see if maybe he wants to trade necks. both have the AANJ. if the hardware is different on the neck, i'll try and switch that too.

Are there any problems that could occur while doing this? and i've played some 470s and 320s with the wizard II that played pretty well and seemed to be good quality. will the 220 be any different?

You'll have to fill and redrill 2 of the holes in each neck to swap them, but that's not a big deal, other than that, it should all be fine.

is it like that on all the years for the model or only certain ones?

why is that anyway? just so people can't switch them?

The Korean necks and Japanese necks are built at 2 different factories, and the program that drills the holes is a little different I guess, not alot, but plenty enough that they don't line up. Just fill the old ones with dowel and redrill new ones though, it's a 30 minute job.

When I made a body that accepted the RG2?? neck, the AANJ holes were definitly off from the RG5?? series. But, yeah, an easy fix as Jer mentioned.

wouldnt that mean that the few MIJ guitars that have Wizard II necks have the same holes as the Wizard necks?

All the wizard 2 necks include a different neck joint profile. If you notice it isnt as rounded as the other ones. The wizard one is smaller all around, including the neck joint.
