Reputable guitar tech Baltimore area?
Just wondering if anyone could recommend a good
guitar tech
in the Baltimore, MD area?
My EB/MM Petrucci seems to have tuning stability problems - just one dive bomb with the trem will change the pitch of a a few strings significantly. I've been told that with the
locking tuners
, this should not be occuring.
thanks.

Where did you buy your EB?
Ron Cook at Bill's Music in Catonsville is very good.
If you'd like, maybe I can have a look at it. I've been working on my own gutars with Floyds /
locking trems
since 1983.

I took a guitar to Bill's Music before, and they just didn't seem willing to talk to me about my guitar or what my needs might be. When I went to pick it up, I asked what exactly was done to my guitar, and I was told "everything that needed to be done". They weren't rude, but definitely not very helpful even when asked.
I do appreciate the recommendation though.

A few days after I've done a guitar I couldn't tell you what all I did to it, I just know I did everything that was needed

Phil Jacoby has a great reputation, is in Baltimore, and is a great guy.
I think his website is Philtone.com or something like that...
He'll do it while your right there, taking your input and working with you.
Sorry I can't be more specific on the address...

I know Guitar Center has a tech guy, he makes pickups something like every thursday. The one drawback is he charges a flat fee of around $75 for any job. He fixed up one of my old guitars for me though, and he did a nice job. There's another place to consider is Pro Guitar Works. I have their phone number if you want it, I just don't want to post it since I'm not sure if I am allowed to. The people there are very friendly and they do all sorts of tech stuff. There is one more guy, but I can't remember his name. I know he is really good with guitar tech and he used to work in the back of a store that I think was called Appalachian Bluegrass and now he works in his house. You can try contacting them to see if they know his number. Hope you get your guitar issues worked out.
