Question Required Capacitor Voltage on JEM?

What Voltage capacity does the JEM guitars have on their Capacitors/condensers (0.022uF & 330pF)?

I've heard about 65V would suffice.

Re: Required Capacitor Voltage on JEM?

Theres alot of myth surrounding this particular question... mostly people say you should go for a higher voltage cap like a 200v or 500v ceramic disc cap.. my own belief is that you might only notice a difference if a guitar were a precision scientific instrument that measured to within 400 decimal places the force between two novel nano-particels... seing as the tone knob is a really roughly used and always arbitrarily set control (who turns their tone dial to exactly 3.14159)

I dont see how what the cap is made of or its voltage rating makes any difference to the overall sound of the guitar which runs an output of maximum 500mV on high output passive pups. If someone knows otherwise then please let me know and be prepared to show the maths...

personally I think you should only need a 500v cap in a guitar on the bridge ground as a precaution against getting electricuted from a dodgy amp ground...

Re: Required Capacitor Voltage on JEM?

When I ordered my new 0.022uF from MF, I received a 250V, so I accepted that as standard for guitars...

Re: Required Capacitor Voltage on JEM?

The guitar has Millivoltage running through the circuits. So in essence it doesn't really matter. The concern becomes size of the caps. Lower voltage caps usually are smaller in size also and easier to manipulate in the cavity.

I ordered .022uF + -5% 50v DC polyester #dsf050j223 from Newark.... part #98b5764

and .330pF + -5% 50v DC #mcc1c331j1hs5L-RH from Newark.... part #80k9091

Ckeck Mouser electronics: http://www.mouser.com/

or Newark Electronics: http://www.newark.com/

Try these too..... Vishay is a good brand.
