restore shine to scalloped fretboard

I just scalloped the neck on my first guitar from many years ago, I wanted to make it more unique so I scalloped the neck and gave the body a burnt finish stained very dark red. Now my problem is that the parts of the fretboard I didn't scallop are much better looking. The scalloped parts are darker and I want to know what I should use to restore the sheen the original fretboard had? thanks in advance!

Sand the scallops up to about 400 grit (sandpaper) or so and add some bore oil (or some other fretboard oil).
