Re: RG1520 Mod Ideas

Man, I just noticed that Active 80's got banned.

I'll admit, he was a little rough around the edges, but I don't think it was anything we couldn't live with...

Re: RG1520 Mod Ideas

This is what I came up with, I don't know how much of this is possible, but it would be my dream RG1570, and maybe all of it is possible:

Neck:

Wizard II
Red Vine of Life
Sims Custom Shop Inlays

Pickups:

Neck - PAF Pro
Mid - JEM Single
Bridge- X2N, or Tone Zone

Addition Electronics:

EMG Afterburner
Black Ice
Piezo
Locking Stud Mod for Edge Pro

Controls:

Volume
Tone/Black Ice (Push - Pull Pot)
EMG Afterburner
LED Switch
Piezo Switch
Piezo Volume

The extra controls put into a routed out part of my guitar out of sight like:

Re: RG1520 Mod Ideas

Possible Setup 1:

Pros: Evenly spaced, ergonomic, blue looks really good
Cons: Routing of tone wood, its a red sparkle/mirage paintjob, neck doesn't match what it looks like in strong light/stagelight

Possible Setup 2:

Pros: Less routing of tone wood, everything together at fingertips
Cons: Kinda cluttered, everything close together. Wiring nightmare? Would need to be shielded?

Re: RG1520 Mod Ideas

the first idea would be killer with all the electronics on.
just swap the red and blue round, then it matches

this after burner thing, does it just dail in more and more gain?
when i saw muse i think he had something similar on his guitar to get loads of crazy feedback.
hope it all goes well

Re: RG1520 Mod Ideas

Have someone route a design into the top.

I saw a picture of a guitar like that somewhere where a guy had carved a design into the top of the guitar a few mm deep then stained it, looked hot.

Their not in season

And to the routing of design into body, thats awesome idea. But I like the paintjob I have now. But if I ever make one from scratch, that'd be an awesome idea.

Y'know, the more I see people's ideas, the more I think I like your guitar the way it is!

Well, I do like the guitar. Its just I want something MORE, more unique, I guess.

Update: I've reviewed the price of some of the parts, and it looks like it might cost me 600$ not including the LED neck. Still discussing routing options and wiring options with a luthier friend of mine (Who thinks I should drop the Afterburner or Black Ice, one of the two) and everything is still up for grabs.

OR, you could just sell it to me as is. That would be the most radical change of all!

Re: RG1520 Mod Ideas

Whats your price? Guitars are lucrative, I wouldn't mind selling it. I haven't torn her apart yet, stock besides new strings.
