RG350DX Floyd Rose Help
I'm looking to change the tremolo on my RG350DX, and before I get going I do know that there are 1,000,000 other topics on this, but I have some questions that need to be answered and any help would be greatly appreciated.
1. I have read on this site that an Original
Floyd Rose Trem
will just drop right in, however I emailed Floyd Rose directly and I was told that the
Floyd Rose Pro
should be a better fit. Is this true?
2. What is the difference between the Original Floyd Rose and the Floyd Rose Pro and which is better?
3. Do any of you think that I could exchange my Edge III that is in there now to make a little bit of money back when I do go to buy the Floyd Rose?
4. If anybody has changed the trem in an RG350DX, can you please let me know of any problems or flaws with doing this change?
Once again, any help would be great. Thanks.

Re: RG350DX Floyd Rose Help
I don't get how they say it'll fit better, it either fits or it doesn't. And the Floyd pro isn't really better than the original, it's just lower profile and narrower string spacing. Similar to how the Lo-pro doesn't function any better than the original edge, it's just a better overall design because it doesn't stick out of the body as far and the fine tuners are further out of the way. I don't think you could exchange your edge III when you get the Floyd, but you could probably just sell, although you won't get much(that's if someones even interested).

Re: RG350DX Floyd Rose Help
I dunno, they may be right about it fitting better. I've heard that the Original
Floyd Rose
is too long for the Edge III route even though it lines up properly, so if the Floyd Pro isn't quite as long then it probably would be a better fit. As far as quality goes, I would guess that it's about the same, just a slightly different design.

Re: RG350DX Floyd Rose Help
Well, as far as I know, I would need to do some routing work to fit in any other tremolo besides these Floyd Rose models that I have mentioned, and the last thing I want to do is have to ruin the finish on my guitar in any way. I have a router, but I just dont want any damage done to the guitar.

I put an original floyd in my 350dx without any problems at all. Look for pictures under the title family photo. chef21

Re: RG350DX Floyd Rose Help
I bet the floyd rose is cheaper but have you looked at putting in a new Edge Pro? They look alot similar so they might swap right in. I have an edge, a lo-pro 7, and an Edge Pro. I wouldn't say one is better than the other (now that they have the bugs worked out of the new edge pro) but the original edge is still my favorite, probably because i've had it the longest. They are all 3 way better than my originial floyd IMHO

I prefer my original edge too, for the same reason, mostly cause it's the most broken in...and I just don't like the fact that you can't replace the knife edges on a floyd so I stay away from them.

Well, the first obvious question wasn't asked: WHY do you want to swap the Edge III?

Re: RG350DX Floyd Rose Help
I will say that an origianl Edge feels more stout. I have been the proud owner of both, and my Edge III actually stays in tune just as well as my original Edges, severe reverse dives and all. In my 26 years of playing, it has been the second best trem I've ever owned, only to the original Edge.

I liek the look of the RG350Dx as well. How does the Edge III compare over a long period of time e.g. years? Relliability?

Re: RG350DX Floyd Rose Help
I've been beating on my for 6-9 months, now, and have only had to tighten the
trem arm
swing resistance, a little. I'll be interested in how it all fairs, down the line.

Re: RG350DX Floyd Rose Help
Anyone else got one?
Another little annoyance about my trem is that the arm is evr so slightly loose in the socket, even with the screw tight. I might try a coat of nail varnish.

Re: RG350DX Floyd Rose Help
Wow I'm getting really comfused now. I've been looking around and I've noticed I can't just drop in like any trem. I went to my
local music store
the other day and was told by a Floyd Rose specialist that no floyd rose will fit perfectly into an Edge III cavity. Then he recommended that I get a Lo-Pro or an Original Edge, and now when I'm looking it up and such, they apparently wont fit well at all.
And by the way, the reason I am changing my trem is mainly because I feel its too stiff, and whenever I pull up when im using it all of the strings make noice, and cuts out the main note im trying to play. Now after trying other
Ibanez guitars
with better trems I could tell a huge difference in playability and cleanliness with the trem.
