RG570 trem bar problem

Hi,

I got a 1999 RG570 and is great.....the trem stability is awesome (is the originel but i dont know wich model is)...but iŽve notice that the trem bar is a little "loose" i mean is not tight, doesnŽt stay in the position i leave it.....

is there any solution for this?

thanks in advance.

Re: RG570 trem bar problem

Ok, I guess I'll field this one then!
This is quite a commonly asked question and many people have posted suggestions. You could try the following: (here's a parts digram to help)

1) Check the arm holder is screwed up tight
2) Take the trem arm out of the socket, are there white nylon 'bushes' (called washers in this diagram) on it? If not then you'll need some!
3) If there are 'bushes' on the arm then they'll be worn and you can replace them.
4) If you cant get hold of the replacements (but you have the worn ones) you can try painting a thin coat of nail varnish on the arm where the bushes go and when you put the bushes back on they'll fit in the holder more snugly.
5) You can wrap the whole end of the arm in something thin like the cellophane off a cigarette packet.
I think that summarises the options!

Re: RG570 trem bar problem

If you look at the diagram, the arm holder fits through a hole in the tremolo from the top and a nut tightens up from underneath. I've found that the holder can come loose. If it does, you can usually tighten the holder from above with everything in place. The holder has two small slots cut into it's rim. You need to put a thick plectrum or coin or something in there that fits into the slots but doesn't overhang (otherwise you might scratch the trem) just tighten by turning clockwise (carefully). If this doesn't work you'll need to take the trem out and tighten the nut underneath.

Ok really you just need to check, it's more likely to be 3), 4) or 5)
