rubbing compound - clear finish


hi, i´ve been reading about the final in the refinishing applying the rubbing compound, can it be done with normal car wax??? or it has to be exactly that product????, it is somehow a wax isn´t???

It's not a wax as such , more of a very fine abrahsive mixture. Ask your local car body spray shop, they may even give you enough to do a guitar body.

get 3M Perfect It II or Finesse It

there the best in my opinions once you buff it out by hand then you apply a polish to really bring out that shine.

hey guy best tip what i have found with ibanez is that there paint is poly based paint that is nothing like car paint its ok to use a realy fine cutting compound but to polish u need a poly based polish which is can u guess lol brasso the stuff u polish silver with try it no **** on my life it works p.s thank mme later

I would use 3M perfect it II, thats what we use on ON ALL our guitars and customers guitars after painting them. You can also use Meguiars Machine Glaze which is a little finer than the 3m, but its mainly for polishing, to where the 3M is mainly for buffing out scratches/oxidation, but it puts a GREAT shine on ANY kind of paint finish, Laquer, poly, enamel, Urethane, polyester, etc....
