RUNNING PICKUP CURRENT IN REVERSE? - hey you electronics guy

ok, lets say you have a dimarzio pickup wired as normal.

* * * * * *black * * * * *white
* * * * * * * ) * * * * * * * * *)
* * * * * * *( * * * * * * * * *(
* * * * * * * ) * * * * * * * * *)
* * * * * * *( * * * * * * * * *(
* * * * * * red * * * * * *green

and as dimarzio has it, the red is hot, the black and white are together, and the green and bare wire go to ground. *

ok, now the question is this: *should it sound any different to have them completely reversed so that everything is running backwards?

where black is hot, red and green are together, and the white and bare wire go to ground.

i ask this because the latter is how my brand new 2001 UV was wired --- and i think that is the reason that the pickups sound different, but i dont know if its psychosematic, or if they actually do sound different and if there is a reason that the two configurations should sound different.

help. :help:

RUNNING PICKUP CURRENT IN REVERSE?

I had the same question when i wired my evo bridge. I posted here in the tech area. The topic was "Wiring problems" ....not very original in fact! By the way..... It won't sound any different because black and red and white and green are the two endings of the same coil. The thing you must check is if ALL the pickups are wired this way.... otherwise your single coil and humbuckers will be ok when playing alone, but out of phase when playing together in second and fourth position, this resulting in a much thinner sound.
To check if your single coil is wired the same way of your humbuckers, in other words if all your pickups are wired right, i suggest you to check the Di Marzio website and go to the wiring diagrams :read:. In those diagrams the humbuckers are wired with black and white together. If you have yours wired with red and green together, make sure that your single coil is wired the opposite way too. (I hope my eplanation is comprehensible)
If everything is wired the same way there will be no differnces in sound.

RUNNING PICKUP CURRENT IN REVERSE?

so since the single coil has only two wires, you just switch them? *by the way, thanks for the comments -- that really helped.

Well you have to switch them only if they are wired in the way that is shown on the Di Marzio site because the humbuckers are wired the opposite way.
