Re: S5EX1 project
After waiting weeks for black pickup rings I felt the need to post one last photo featuring...black pickup rings! Ended up getting black "chrome" rings from WD Music which is just up the road from me. The black matches the trem pretty well and it's not anything like a cosmo finish.
Liking the Satriani set, the neck pickup (PAF Joe) is quite loud and I lowered it and the bridge (Mo Joe) a substantial amount to balance with the Fast Track. Some day I'll add black tuners but the power cosmo tuners are fine for now.

Re: S5EX1 project
Do you think your s neck would fit well in RG920 Premium body. Would it fit snug. I think I am interested in buying it.

Re: S5EX1 project
It would, both are 58mm heels and ibanez is remarkably consistent. There's almost zero variation in any of my guitar necks.

Don't forget they've used different bolt patterns in the past for korean japanese and indonesian models. It'll fit, but he may have to redrill for a different bolt spacing.

Re: S5EX1 project
Good point. I don't own anything Korean and I do know the bolt length may be different on Korean models. But the
prestige
and Indonesian necks look directly interchangeable from my experience. All premiums are made in Indonesia now, correct?

Re: S5EX1 project
No, other way round. Korean and .jp were always interchangeable, indo were not - they may have changed that with premium though, since the j craft guys set that up.

Re: S5EX1 project
That isn't true. If you look at my
S5EX1
, which is an indo body, it has a Japanese prestige neck on it currently and it bolts right in, no modifications. I did a bit of research and the Korean bolts are different, but I don't know about pattern. If what you say is true, then they are all swappable.

Wrong. I've got a Korean RG470 that came with a Japanese RG570 neck, holes were doweled and redrilled to fit.

Re: S5EX1 project
Photos illustrate a Japanese RG neck and Indonesian S neck and the bottom is the Indonesian neck above the Indonesian body. The J-neck is a direct bolt-on with no modification needed.
