S7420 - Swap out Lo-TRS for Lo-PRO
Wondering if anyone has done this to their S7. I mean I've seen pictures on here and on sevenstring.org but they were just Buzz McGrath's custom S7.
Is there a lot of routing to be done? Anyone have any experience doing this maybe with the 6 stringers?
I've already found the
s7420
and the ibanez lo-pro trem. Just need to know if its worth it and how much i can expect to spend to get it done.

I'd be curious to find out also. I like Doug Doppler's S with the flamed maple and they only come with a TRS AFAIK.

Re: S7420 - Swap out Lo-TRS for Lo-PRO
I believe this has been touched on a few times in any of the 100 or so posts on lo-trs to lo-pro swaps. There is a considerable amount of routing to do. The studs are bigger, and I'm not 100% sure but I believe their spacing is a bit different as well (someone correct me on this if not). The routing depth and width is different. If you've got the knowhow, or the bucks...it's the thing to do! Or find an old S-7 that came with a lo-pro.

I've looked at this but I'm asking as its the 7 string version so don't know if its the same. I'd love to find an older S7 but I just dont like the Single coils as finding them is hard.

Re: S7420 - Swap out Lo-TRS for Lo-PRO
yeah, I wasn't trying to be an ass or anything....I think it's the same with the 7's..I know that my RG7420 body route is A LOT different from my RG7620 route....I know my buddy was just contemplating the same thing with his S-7420. I think it would be a lot of work and some bucks.......You don't like the OFR's? He ended up putting one of those in and loves it..He couldn't be happier. He, like you, wanted a lo-pro in a bad way....Of course...He does have clearance issues on the back side of the guitar...

Yeah I want to exhaust every option with the lo-pro before I get an OFR on it. I wont mind even having a bit of a restriction in the movement of the ttrem in terms of diving/pulling up. Btw no worries - I know you werent trying to be an ass and I hope I'm not coming off as one either.

Nope, not in the least bit.....So, did you say you already have a lo-pro? Width won't be that much of an issue, It's the depth of the route @ the anchor posts.......

Incorrect. the posts line up (they are smaller in the TRS so to use locking studs you will have to drill it out a bit), and there is a small small amount of routing to be done. it took me ~ 3 minutes with a
pocket knife
to get a clean route done and fit it a
lo pro
to an RG350 with the TRS posts. and it keeps tune just fine

Some routing might be needed. However, stud distance is the same.
I say: JUST DO IT!

Re: S7420 - Swap out Lo-TRS for Lo-PRO
Hmm. I've heard that even the Edge Pro 7 is a fit for the guitar and there is less to route out.
