Saddle corrosion on a 2027????

My 2027 is developing some dark spotting on the saddles, looks like some kind of corrosion. Appears to be worse on the saddles of the wound strings...looks like hell but I am hesitant to use any chemicals for fear of making it worse.

Anyone have any idea of what this could be...I wish I had a photo but no digi-cam.

Brad

Just to add some info: These saddles are not normal lo pro saddles, these are the double edge saddles that appear to be machined aluminum or possible a steel alloy...not really sure. There is no plating on them.

Is this right at the point where the string crosses the saddle?

Corrosion. Are you wiping your trem down after you play? I would suggest you do from now on.
