Sanding down a mahogany jackson

I have picked up a very battered red jackson sls, I thought it might look cool sanded down and left without paint -ie. natural with a bit of varnish....
The wood is mahogany, will it look ok when its naked wood or does the mahogany used for guitars that have paint jobs not look particularly good naked?
Will it be very difficult to sand the back of the neck down? will the joins in the neck-through body look wierd?
thanks for any pointers!

I'm not sure about the body, but with regards to the neck, hand sanding should suffice. Do a bit of searching on here and you'll find some good guidelines to go by, I know there's at least one very good thread about on that subject.

*edit* http://www.jemsite.com/forums/f21/ha...ks-87230.html? There's the thread I was referring to.

You could use a paint stripper such as Nitro Mors. Then just use tung oil or danish oil to stain it the natural look. I noticed that Danish oil has several different colours including an aged one.
