Self Glued Neck

Hey guys, have you guys encounter this problem? I just recently found out why my strat isn't always in tune. i found out the neck was glued on to the body, it seems like it was self glued. so i can never get the G string sound "right" always half step up. so i wonder how to get rid of the glue? should i attempt to melt them? ( im still not sure because i might damage the finish of the body. )

Re: Self Glued Neck

I don't really get it...?
Even if the neck is glued, it should still be in the right spot, since the screws are still in there, right?
And if it's not in the right spot, shouldn't it affect all strings, rather than just the G-string?

It sounds more like the bridge saddles need intonation than that the neck would somehow not be put on right?

So well, have the guitar looked at before you try to melt glue and damage the guitar or anything.

Re: Self Glued Neck

I brought it to the tech, that's what they say to me. So I guess I'll try to have it seen by someone else.

Re: Self Glued Neck

Whatever is causing your tuning problems, it isn't the glue.

It is difficult to diagnose that sort of problem without seeing the guitar, but I'd start by making sure the string isn't binding in the nut.

Re: Self Glued Neck

a glued joint has more density and more strength than a non glued joint

that is properly

the glue if done and used correctly, will always have a dense and crisp sound to it, as without it it would sound a bit more mellow

take it to a better tech, he might be fiucking with you when all you need to do is intonate it
