set up/buzz problem on my DBK, help.

Well I decided to finally properly set up my DBK that has been sitting around wth no love since I bought it. I just have to many guitars to get to it before now. But basicly I'm having problems with buzzing on mainly just the low e. I've loosened my truss rod over the course of the past two days and while it has helped the other strings the low E doesn't seem to be getting much better. It has some but still has a decent amount of buzz from the 1st fret to somewhere around the 9th. I don't really want to loosen it up much more cuz it already seems a little high for a Jem. There is a little buzz on the A for a couple frets but it's lighter and acceptable to me.

Any Ideas? Should I loosen the truss a bit more and see what happens, or does somebody have a better plan?

Re: set up/buzz problem on my DBK, help.

Loosing the truss really only helps the lower frets by giving the neck more relief but will make the first couple frets buzz no matter what.

I would try shimming the nut on the bass side and try tightening up the truss rod a bit to help stop the buzz at first few frets (the neck still needs to have some relief in it so don't go overboard)... this should help.
