Setup problems with my DBK...good price for a quality setup?

I am having a really tough time finding a good tech to setup my Jem 7DBK properly. A bunch of people say they know Floyds well, but ive tried a couple and it comes back with a bad angle (low or high) and so so tuning stability. Not to mention Im not quite sure what a good price in US dollars is for a good trem/neck setup??

Rich!! I know you could comment on this cause you seem to be one of the "area" setup pros I would do it myself, but I have limited tools, time and patience any info would be appreciated!

Im breaking strings too often with not so hot tuning stability and I know its a result of the trem angle being to low among other things.....im afraid if I adjust it too much my intonation will go wild on me

Man, save yourself some money. I think if you're at the stage where you're playing Jems, you can set up a tremolo. There's no witchcraft to it, the whole thing makes sense. I know that from my own experience it's very good for you to work through a tutorial yourself; along the way you realise how it works, and that means next time you have to make a smaller adjustment you understand what has to be done and why. There's no prob messing up your intonation either, to fix that you need a tuner, at least one working eye, and about two lines of text in a tutorial file. Done!

I don't mean any of that to sound condescending if it does, for example I know nothing about the electronics of guitars, but I've never had to... yet. This trem stuff though, it's basic setup stuff, pretty essential, and it will save your cash!

First thing I'd ask is what year it is, because all years do not function equally. But I also can't agree more that nobody should touch your guitar but you. No patience? Got kids? You'll need to develop some sooner or later!

I couldn't aswer any tech $ questions, I'm not a "pro", I've never done tech for $'s. I'd probably overcharge if I did

Thanks for the info guys. My DBK is a 2001 model btw.....

I just may try setting it up on my own. I guess it just seems to be somewhat of a hassle and time consuming. But I suppose if i dealt with the switch from stringing a vintage strat trem to a LPE, I could handle it Im also getting the idea that setups on floyd bridge guitars are a complete ripoff?? They do seem to be. One bozo said $60 for a full setup which is highway robbery

any insight on the 2001 model with lpe though Rich?? anything thats not listed on the tutorial pages anyway.. (and no kids for me at this point. whew! hehe )
