Simulating JEM90TH Finish

Anyone know how this finish is made? I'm curious if it's possible to make a copy of this kind of colour and texture.

It's sandblasted into the wood through a template. The template is the same for all Jem90's but each turns out different because the wood accepts the blasting to different depths and grain. Kirk did a 90th alike using plaster etc. to build up the surface instead of cutting into it. That thread can be found on the old Forum somewhere.

I also did a finish that was very much like the JEM90/DBK. I stripped down an RG7620 body, and used this stuff called Knock-Down Plaster, it's meant to make the same kind of texture on ceilings and whatnot. Just for kicks I used a chrome spraypaint over it, but never clearcoated it. Right now the body is sitting in a workshop being stripped of all things unnatural...which is taking a very, very, very long time. It would have held great, but I never cleared the body.

I've done the color part before, what you need to start out with is a simulated chrome base or highly polished silver base, then clear over it with translucent blue in very fine coat's. that will gradually bring the color up to the desired point then just change to regular clear coat for protection.
